Prologue to Our Marketing Journey

Growing up I was a great student. We’re talking about a 4.0 GPA.

I’m not mentioning this for clout. My GPA has had very little to do with my success.

I’m mentioning this because no matter how good I was at learning in school I was never very good at teaching. I never tutored my classmates because I had a hard time breaking down what I knew into understandable chunks for others.

Which leads me to this journey.

In the past, I have tried teaching others what I know but have a tendency to throw too much at people too fast. Doing a 365-day journey forces me to slow down and break down the exact steps needed for you to succeed.

It’s possible for you to grow your income to $3,000 (and more… much more) per month with affiliate marketing. And I’m going to prove it by doing it with you.

I literally set up a dedicated business account and started a brand new email list starting at ZERO to show you how, with consistent work a few hours week, you can grow your income.

The first week or so of this marketing journey is going to be prep work. Once we get through the basics we’ll get into the nitty-gritty of this challenge. For now, keep reading to learn exactly what affiliate marketing is and how it can help you create a consistent source of income.

What Exactly is Affiliate Marketing?

Email Marketing allows you to build a relationship with people on your list.

Before we jump into things let’s discuss what affiliate marketing is.

People will often use the terms ’email marketing’ and ‘affiliate marketing’ interchangeably but they aren’t the same thing.

According to The Balance, Small Business email marketing is ‘the use of email to promote products or services while developing relationships with potential customers or clients.‘

Affiliate marketing on the other hand is defined by Big Commerce as ‘the process by which an affiliate earns a commission for marketing another person’s or company’s products.’

Both include promoting products but one focuses on developing relationships and the other focuses on how money is made.

Affiliate marketing is one of the main tools that email marketing uses. However, email marketing allows for more interaction with customers and more repeat sales. This is what makes it a more sustainable, ever-growing business model and why email marketing is one of the best tools you can have when it comes to affiliate marketing.

Instead of someone stumbling across a social media post and buying from you one time you collect their email and communicate with them consistently. This consistent communication allows your readers to build a relationship with you and increase repeat sales.

Earning Potential of Affiliate Marketing

When an email list is actively engaged, you can make anywhere from $1-$10 per person on your email list per month. This means that if you can grow your list to 5,000 people who look forward to opening your emails you can make anywhere from $5,000 to $50,000 per month.

Don’t panic if the task of growing your email list seems daunting- we’re going to be in this together.

For today the only thing I want you to do is read through this short post I put together on Affiliate Marketing for you.

There’s also an Affiliate Marketing Workbook in my resource library that you can browse through if you want but don’t get overwhelmed. We have a lot to cover before you just start throwing links out with the hope someone will buy.

Don’t forget to check back next week for Week 2 of our Journey to $3,000/month.

Take care and always remember that success is incremental- not binary.
